  • Color me mycosified! Cavern Deep deliver another highly immersive cavernous slab of their subterranean tunes, very much in the spirit and quality of the first. Their wavering melodies and airy passages paired with crushing chord progressions carrying crushing tones really hit hard: excellently weird songwriting. Rather than feeling like a gimmick, they conjure an atmosphere that is genuinely strange and inhuman, with shades of science fiction and body horror, like luminescent fungi in the dark.

  • I would agree with Pumpkin Thierry that we're seeing some genre-defining stuff here, with Deep Metal being established as a more ponderously thematic but still crushing cousin to Doom. Cavern Deep are on the forefront alongside bands like Oceanlord and Vitskär Süden, who are exploring their own themes of eldritch watery depths and cosmic horror fantasy. Cheers for the free codes, dudes!
