  • I did not know about Avery’s project to spread the word about challenges animals face through doom before this album, but as a lover of both animals and doom, I’m all in! On this album I feel the murk and freedom of the eels’ watery homes, as well as the crushing weight of the many challenges humans have heaped upon them, from dumping toxins into their waterways to changing currents to catching and eating too many for them to survive.

  • This is truly an impressively diverse yet cohesive album, visiting a wide spectrum of genres, emotions and atmosphere. Most notably it has elements of doom and black metal, but is a truly experimental work.

  • As obscure and wondrous as the creatures it features, and as essential. Support local music and protect local (and nonlocal) eels!
