  • More than a decade has passed; the power this album holds has not wavered in the slightest. Essential epic Candlemass-type doom.

  • Ten years and more since the monumental sophomore album from Pallbearer, and it is still an outstanding representation of what modern doom metal should be. Meandering and crushing doom for the wandering soul inside of us all. 9/10

  • A decade-plus later and I'm still not sure if the doom genre has caught up with Foundations of Burden. Also, shocked that it took me a full decade to add this slab to my collection. Procrastination is real.

  • Perfect Doom, thudgy and open and full of sorrow. They are one of the most tonally and thematically consistent heavy bands out there while always making each album unique. The guitars sound incredible! The riffs are thick but also nimble. Drummer holds everything in the palm of his hand perfectly. Also lonely lovely vocals.

  • My brother introduced me to Pallbearer by playing The Ghost I Used To Be. I did not appreciate it at that time, but I kept coming back to this album and I was hooked. Thank you Pallbearer for inlfuencing me in a positive way with your incredible music.
