  • Spaced out heavy rock. Low, slow doom metal riffs. If that’s your jam, this is for you. Get on board this ride, you won’t regret it.

  • Slow, hulking doom that's as heavy as a herd of mammoths being pursued by a gang of sumo wrestlers in steamrollers. Unfortunately not as awesome a release as subsequent album, Estron, but a decent enough warm-up for that record.

  • Slomatics are one of the finest doom outfits around today. Their riffs are thick, low and slow, and everything is pulled off with an atmosphere and intelligence that belies the brutish nature of the band's ultra-heavy approach. With the odd psychedelic leaning, A Hocht encompasses all that and more.

  • Primordial noise. The tub-thumping of mammoth bones on hollow Redwoods,a monstrous swamp-thing of a riff disintegrating as it gathers pace;imploding in a halting, crystalline refrain that seems destined to drift into the quiet void, only for that riff to return to Godzilla-stomp you into submission. It's for moments such as these I cleave to 'heavy' music.

  • Dylan Carlson once said something to the effect of...there was really no point in making music anymore because the Melvins had already perfected it. Fortunately for us, Slomatics didn't get the memo. With this album, they've raised the bar and redefined what it means to play it slow and low and be heavy as fuck all. In fact, they have perfected it.
