  • Why do I love this album, just listen to it. Pure Ozzy worship.

The Midnight Toker. · favourite track: Grim Rituals

  • Contemporary, fuzzed-out doom metal that confidently trumpets old-school roots without discarding modern technique. Gotta love how the drums finds their own groove while still managing to carve a beat for the rest of the band to follow! Spiral Shades are a goddamned standard bearer for modern doom -- listen to this album and just try to deny it. Tony Iommi should legally adopt these kids and call them his own.

  • While many bands seek to emulate Black Sabbath, Spiral Shades in fact channel Sabbath. This album sounds like a logical progression from Master Of Reality, and may even be better than some of the Ozzy-era Sabbath albums. Yeah, that's blasphemy, I know, but God didn't strike me down with a bolt of lightning just now, so I know he agrees with me. At any rate, this album is great
