Vibravoid
DE · formed 1997
Vibravoid is Germany’s longest-running active Neo-Psychedelic band and a primary architect of the modern Psychedelic Rock revival. Formed in Düsseldorf, the band’s roots trace back to 1988 with the Lightshow Society Düsseldorf, before officially consolidating as Vibravoid in 1990. Operating as a defiant underground force during the 1990s - a decade dominated by Techno and Grunge - Vibravoid played a crucial role in preserving and reinventing the aesthetics of the 1960s for a new generation. They are credited as the inventors of Neo-Krautrock, blending traditional Kosmische Musik with Acid Rock, Garage and newer elements like Punk and Indie Rave. Pioneering Achievements & Vinyl Legacy: Vinyl Revival Initiators: Long before the mainstream vinyl boom of the 2010s, Vibravoid remained strictly dedicated to the format. Their discography is a testament to physical media innovation, featuring numerous world-firsts in packaging, such as multi-colored splatter vinyl, glow-in-the-dark effects, op-art op-discs, and elaborate pop-up covers. The "Psych Fest" Blueprint: In 2001, the band organized the first Psych Fest of the new millennium, setting the stage for the global explosion of psychedelic festivals that followed years later. UFO Club Legacy: In 1996, they were the only band to organize an official 30th-anniversary celebration for London’s legendary UFO Club, bridging the gap between the original 1960s scene and the modern underground. Collaborations: Their standing in the psych-community is cemented by collaborations with legends like Sky Saxon (The Seeds). Led by mastermind Christian "Doktor" Koch, Vibravoid continues to push the boundaries of "Maximum Void Vibration," remains a staple in the international psychedelic charts, and is a cornerstone for collectors of experimental and psychedelic rock.
